Second Chances I saw light ‘round the door it was dark around me it was dark around me I tried to reach through voice was fading Calling out for you boat on a crimson sea My heart said wait up But I set it free Around me faces ashen melancholy What purpose is there for me? Here’s to second chances let the gambler out the door cracks in painted faces truth is coming for truth is coming forth There on a moonlit arm Your silver bracelets And the bright blue stars you threw it all to that sea And a moment later you were diving madly Here’s to second chances let the gambler out the door cracks in painted faces Truth is coming forth truth is coming forth Here’s to second chances let the gambler out the door cracks in painted faces truth is coming for truth is coming forth

Soulfire 02:53

about

Katrina Kadoski’s latest recording,
“‘Soul Anthems,’ uses the theme of fire as a metaphor for the paradigm shift when one commits to the voice of their soul. A soundtrack for the transformation we are in, both personally and collectively. Written from very personal experiences and feelings while navigating life, the pandemic and musically documenting the process.

Soul Anthems was recorded at the Woodshop Recording Studio, in Duncan B.C., with producer Zak Cohen. A career development grant from Creative BC was awarded to help fund the process and studio musicians. Katrina Kadoski (songwriting, vocals, guitars, banjo, harmony parts) Louis Rudner (bass,) Alex Campbell (drums,) Thomas Kinzle (keyboards,) Adrian Dolan (fiddle,) and Zak Cohen on guitar, percussion and harmonies, and Megan Boddy (band-mate from former group Honeygirl) Jayne Walling, Steve Mullen, Rachael Gurevitch, Scott & Jen Smith and Ray Grieves also contributed harmony vocals.

“This was the first time getting a Creative BC recording grant, and so I was super excited to be recognized by my professional peers in this way, but also, super nervous to make sure everything was up to par, the process of making this record challenged me on every level and as a result kicked things up a notch.”

Four elemental albums have now been recorded, “Dreamtime,”(Air) 2016, “After the Shipwreck,“ (Water), 2020, “The Edgedwellers,” (Earth) 2022, and now “Soul Anthems.”(fire) 2023. The last 3 were completed during the pandemic, but not officially released due to the state of the music industry at the time. Katrina plans to initially release the set of four albums on the “Elemental Tiny Tin” USB at small conscious, intimate venues & house concerts and see where the trail blazes from there.

Concerts will be presented, with songs and stories from Soul Anthems, as well as another set of songs in development for a show called “Mountain Myths.” With onscreen images and songs mixing with historical themes from the gold rush, and its value system, The show asks the listener to examine what they feel is gold in their life and how to navigate our ambition around snake oil salesman that capitalize on such ventures. This show will be part of the presentation with the new album for the upcoming series of concerts.
